SOFIA G. GENATO

Sofia GenatoI grew up with a camera in hand. Taking hundreds of snapshots of friends and places with a basic point and shoot, then eventually shifting to film with a Canon Rebel in 1999 since I studied film. A self-taught photographer, I read a lot of books, speak with photographers, take workshops and visit hundreds of websites to hone my craft. Being in advertising and working with top photographers has definitely influenced me as well.

I fell in love with black and white photography while on a trip to Paris in 1997 and seeing Robert Dosineau's work. Photographing children became a passion of mine quickly after and I started out taking photos of my 5 little brothers, sisters and cousins and then moved on to the children of my friends.

I also enjoy travel photography and had my first solo exhibit at the One Workshop Gallery in Makati entitled INDOCHINE INTROSPECTIVE in January 2007.

For me, nothing is more fulfilling than capturing a moment, a wonderful play of light on a subject, an expression or an emotion that speaks volumes at first glance.

I particularly enjoy photographing babies and children because of their innocence and peace. The fleeting moments of childhood are so precious and it makes my day to capture these with you. I take time in working with your family so your photos show the true spirit of your children, the love between you and the wonder of new beginnings. We want you to have images that you will adore, cherish and proudly display.

I would say that my style of photography is a celebration of life. I like capturing magical moments, the giggles and twinkles in their eyes, the hugs out of the blue and wet kisses...even the shiny tears. I try to combine classic portraiture with artistic and more modern treatments and natural expressions. It is important to let the child's personality emerge through the photos.

I really love what we do and it is such a blessing to be living this dream.

STAN ONG

Stan OngMy interest in photography started in 2000 when I received my first film camera, a Canon EOS88. After taking basic and advanced workshops under Ibarra Deri and the late Manny Ang, I was able to take several terrific shots of Sagada, Boracay, Cebu (Sinulog), Davao (Kadayawan) and Baguio (Panagbenga).

Resisting the shift into digital, I maintained a long-standing relationship with film and moved on to Canon EOS30. I started my international travel photography and captured great photos Bangkok, Malaysia (Formula One Racing) and Cambodia (the Angkor Wat).

My love for taking thousands of travel photographs and graphic design background finally resulted in my shift to the digital world and in 2004, I purchased my first Digital Rebel XT. With this new equipment, I took more workshops in Philippine Center for Creative Imaging (PCCI) focusing on digital photography, namely, Food Photography by Mark Floro; Wedding Photography by Patrick Uy; Fine Art Nudes, Single Light and Glamour Photography by Dominique James and Fashion Photography by Dominique James and Raymond Isaac.

I currently have one Canon 40D, two Canon 350Ds, a Canon G5 and a Powershot camera for my underwater photos and use various Canon and Sigma lenses. Aside from experimenting and practicing with my equipment, I continue to hone my craft by looking out for and attending workshops in digital photography and lighting.

I enjoy traveling, meeting new friends and working with individuals who share the same passion for nature, beauty and photography as I do.
